Fife Council postpones budget meeting by a fortnight

Fife Council has postponed its all-important budget setting meeting for a fortnight.
With Fife facing a £91 million black hole in its finances over the next three years, councillors are taking more time to consider their options as they prepare to rubber-stamp spending plans moving forward.
Council leader David Ross confirmed that he has taken the “unprecedented step” of asking Provost Jim Leishman to move the date of this month’s full Fife Council meeting from Thursday February 11 to Thursday February 25 in light of a letter received by Finance Secretary John Swinney.
“This letter outlined significant changes to the terms of the grant offer from the Scottish Government that could affect funding for health and social care, education and proposals for an ongoing council tax freeze,” Mr Ross said.
