A Fife graduate has launched his own advertising poster campaign promoting himself in order to find a job.

Anas Hassan from Kirkcaldy has spent £300 renting advertising space at Glasgow Queen Street station to reach out to prospective employers.

The 25-year-old registered as a pharmacist in late 2012 but initially struggled to take the first step on the employment ladder.

Anas said: “I am currently a locum as a pharmacist but the job market is saturated and I am beginning to open up my horizons in the employment market.

“While my working activity picked up through 2013, it has quietened down again in the early stages of 2014.”

Anas is also a presenter for Kirkcaldy’s hospital radio station Victoria Radio Network, for which he was recently nominated for Best Speech Package at the National Hospital Radio Awards.

His job advert includes the phrase “Made in Scotland for Scotland” to illustrate that he was born and educated in this country and he wants to continue to work here.

“I believe I could well be the first person in Scotland to use such an unconventional method to stand out,” he added.

“I was inspired by people like Adam Pacitti, who paid £500 for a billboard advertisement in London, and Feilim Mac An lomaire, an unemployed Irishman who spent his life savings on a billboard in Dublin.

“They both tried to stand out within a crowded employment market.

“Both of them were successful in finding new job opportunities and I hope to take my career forward here in Scotland,” Anas said.
