, the family of Allan Bryant Jnr, who has been missing since November 2013, have also been informed of the discovery and are awaiting formal identifcation.Mr Bryant’s father, Allan Snr, has told The Courier that his family now face an anxious wait for the body to be identified.
“It’s either Allan or the other missing man, Wayne Fleming,” he said.
“It has to be one of them.
“We previously searched the park before but nothing can be 100%.”
Police have said that at this stage it is not possible to tell if the body is male or female, with a full forensic examination currently being undertaken.
Chief Inspector Stevie Hamilton, of Police Scotland at Glenrothes, said: “Whilst the investigation is still at an early stage we have made contact with the next of kin of a number of local missing men from the Glenrothes area to make them aware of this discovery.
“A detailed forensic examination will be required and this will take some time to complete.”
Mr Fleming’s family have not heard from him since March and police said this week they were growing increasingly concerned for the 39-year-old, who frequents both Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy.
The last sighting of Mr Bryant was on CCTV footage which showed him leaving the town’s Styx nightclub alone in the early hours of November 3 2013.
