Knockhill Racing Circuit will once again reverberate to the sound of motorsport engines this weekend as the new season gets off the starting line.
The traditional season opening Scottish Championship car racing event will see up to 120 competitors vie on track in various classes including Formula Ford, Mini, BMW, Sports and Saloons, Legends, Fiestas and Classics throughout the 18 race schedule. Action starts on Sunday morning with practice and qualifying, before the serious door-to-door racing starts mid morning.
Knockhill events director Stuart Gray said: “We’re all very eager to get the motorsports season underway and what better way than to start with a bumper Scottish Championship race event.
“Aside from Scottish championship glory, the 2016 Formula Ford championship has a special prize on offer for the overall winner.
“The opportunity to participate in a Road to Indy shootout and earn a £200,000 scholarship into the American USF2000 Championship, the first rung on the Mazda Road to Indy development ladder.”
Action kicks off on Sunday at around 8.40am with practice and qualifying sessions. Afterwards, the first racing action of the day will take place at around 10.40am, with the day drawing to a close at around 5.30pm.
