Predictions that one of Labour’s safest Scottish seats will turn yellow have been rubbished by opposing candidates.
A Lord Ashcroft poll put SNP candidate Roger Mullin ahead of Labour councillor Kenny Selbie in the race to Westminster for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency.
And during a visit to Fife on Thursday First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said no part of the country was “off limits” for her party.
But in the constituency previously represented by Gordon Brown, Labour hopeful Kenny Selbie said he had received an overwhelming welcome from voters on the campaign trail.
The Conservatives’ Dave Dempsey said: “The SNP do have a track record of over-exaggerating.
And the Liberal Democrats’ Callum Leslie said it was astonishing that the seat previously regarded Labour’s safest in Scotland was now in play.
