Police were called to the scene on West High Street in Buckhaven at around 6.20am. A police spokeswoman said a 37-year-old man had been seriously assaulted. She added: “He sustained facial injuries and was taken by the Scottish Ambulance Service to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment. “A 21-year-old man has been detained in connection with this incident and inquiries are currently ongoing.”
