Fife man guilty of six rapes facing long spell in jail

A man raped a vulnerable woman just five days after being freed on bail to await trial on other rape charges.
Another victim of violent David McDougall, 31, of Fife, was raped in front of her baby son, a trial heard.
McDougall is facing a long spell in prison after being found guilty of six rapes as well as other serious sex offences and physical assaults which included kicking a pregnant woman.
Judge Michael O’Grady told him: “You clearly regard women as objects for your own gratification. Your conduct has been despicable and, of course, utterly cowardly.”
The judge branded McDougall a risk to almost every woman he met and remanded him in custody pending sentence.
“You may take it that the sentence will be a very significant custodial one,” he told him.
McDougall told a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh that his accusers were lying. But a jury found him guilty of a catalogue of violence going back to August 1998 and involving five women.
The attacks took place at addresses in Fife.
McDougall was found guilty of 14 charges.
He faces sentence next month after background reports have been prepared.
