The future of a former Kirkcaldy hotel is to be decided within the coming weeks.
The Strathearn Hotel, in the town’s east end, closed its doors at short notice last May, with the building having remained empty since.
The property will be auctioned off in Edinburgh at the beginning of May following uncertainty over the future of the site.
The once-popular Victorian venue has a guide price of £425,000, though the property notes state that an option to convert the building into luxury flats could boost its value to as much as £1.8 million.
The building is described as being in “excellent condition” and benefiting from “ornate cornicing (and) timber staircase with coloured and leaded stained glass window”.
The B-listed building, which contains 22 bedrooms, was put on the market last year by owners Bruce Taverns after the previous leaseholders reportedly gave staff just a few hours notice before closing the premises.
The closure of the venue caused heartbreak for couples who had booked the hotel for wedding receptions, forcing them to rearrange at short notice.
