Forth Road Bridge closed: NHS Fife sets up advice line for patients
ByLeeza Clark
Patients who need emergency or urgent transfers from Fife are being assured they will continue following the closure of the Forth Road Bridge.
In the wake of Friday’s announcement, NHS Fife has set up a hospital control team.
It will meet twice a day to review how health services are coping with the disruption.
An advice line has also been set up for patients who need to travel into Edinburgh for hospital appointments.
Anyone with questions about travelling for appointments can call 0800 028 2816.
An NHS Fife spokesman said: “Any potential effect on patients and staff is currently being assessed and we are exploring the provision of accommodation and transport, where necessary, to ensure we continue to provide high-quality care.
“We continue to work closely with our neighbouring health boards and the Scottish Ambulance Service with a view to mitigating any potential disruption to our services.
“Patients requiring emergency or urgent transfer will continue to receive this.”
