A Cowdenbeath man has been convicted of assaulting his partner by grabbing her by the neck, even though she was unable to remember anything about it.
The victim, Nicola Robertson, told a trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court that she had marks on her neck the next day but added she “didn’t have a clue” how they were caused.
Leonard Brearley, 55, of Park Street, denied that on November 25 last year at a house on Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, he assaulted Nicola Robertson, grabbing her by the neck.
He said he was acting in self-defence and that his partner had attacked and scratched him.
The incident took place at the home of Thomas Sinclair, 77, whose birthday it was that day, and he had invited his two friends over for a drink.
There had been an argument between the couple.
Sheriff Charles Macnair called for reports. Brearley will be sentenced on July 29.
