Lorry catches fire on A92 near Lochgelly

A lorry has been destroyed in a spectacular blaze on the A92 in Fife.

The lorry was carrying a load of steel when it caught fire on the eastbound carriageway close to the Lochgelly junction.

A photo posted on Twitter shows the lorry engulfed by flames, with a huge plume of thick black smoke rising into the sky.

Five fire crews attended and were engaged in cooling affected diesel tanks.

There were no reports of injuries but there were lengthy tailbacks until the emergency services had cleared the problem.
