A homeless man who launched a vicious attack on a drunk friend after a night out together has been jailed for 40 months.
The victim was unaware that his new friend was his assailant until he apologised the next day.
Raymond Marshall, 29, a prisoner at Perth, admitted that on October 16 at the Bridgeway Hotel, Mill Street, Kirkcaldy, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by making threats with violence and being in possession of a knife.
He also admitted that on April 22 at Dunearn Drive, Kirkcaldy, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by making offensive remarks towards Cheryl Hunter and threatened her and others with violence.
Marshall further admitted that on September 18 at Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline, he assaulted Zak Blackman by kicking him on the head to his severe injury. On the latter charge, the court heard Marshall went into Dunfermline with the victim, who was staying at the same B&B.
Mr Blackman bought two bottles of Buckfast and they drank one each in the Glen before going to a pub where the victim continued to buy drinks.
As they walked on Pilmuir Street, a group at a nearby chip shop heard a disturbance and saw the victim on the ground being kicked twice on the head by Marshall.
The next day, the victim woke up to find blood on his pillow and went to Marshall’s room to ask what had happened. Marshall admitted kicking him in the face and apologised.
The victim was found to have two fractures to the jaw and had to have three metal plates inserted.
Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed jail terms totalling 40 months.
