Dalgety Bay radiation clean-up plan may be ready by summer

A plan to sort out radiation on Dalgety Bay beach could be in place by the summer.
Former prime minister Gordon Brown hailed it as the first steps to a solution in the long-running fight over cleaning up contaminated radioactive material.
He welcomed a deal hammered out at a meeting between the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
At the meeting he said it was agreed to start detailed field work with a view to removing contaminated materials from the foreshore.
It was also agreed to commission a series of special reports including the quantity and extent of the current contamination on the foreshore and within the coastline and the identification of potential scenarios which could result in changes in the levels of contamination on the site.
Sepa will now also have discussions with Public Health England to hear their views of the health impacts of pursuing different options.
“Finally there is some progress,” the MP said.
