‘Big man … can we keep this quiet?’ Greenock man fined for pilfering pipes from Rosyth Dockyard

A storeman stole ship parts from Rosyth Dockyard, where Britain’s new aircraft carriers are being built.
Allan Scott, 34, of Berwick Place, Greenock, was caught with a quantity of pipes and fittings in the boot of his car on February 10.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said Scott was on his way out of the dockyard when he said to the security officer: “Listen big man, I’ve got stuff in my boot. Any chance we can keep this quiet?”
A check of the boot found two hi-res jackets covering quantities of pipes and fittings “unique to the shipbuilding process”, added Mr Kapadia.
Sheriff Craig McSherry fined Scott £900.
