St Andrews has the highest average hotel prices in Britain according to a new survey.
Hotels.com monitors the price of hotel rooms across Britain and compares them with prices a year ago to form its hotel price index.
It found the cost of a room in St Andrews rose from £137 to £153 in the first half of this year, pushing London’s average hotel cost of £128 a night into second place.
Dundee recorded an 11% increase in its room prices from £70 to £78 over the same period.
However, hotel prices in Perth decreased from £66 to £65 this year.
Aberdeen had the highest percentage increase in Britain, showing a 17% rise from £89 to £104.
Kate Hopcraft of the Hotels.com brand said: “Despite Scottish hotels reporting a mixed bag of results in the latest HPI, travellers paid more for their accommodation in the majority of Scottish cities in the report.”
