An East Neuk fishing village has been named one of the best places to live in the UK.
Pittenweem is among five Scottish towns and villages to make it into The Sunday Times’ list of the 50 top countryside residences.
Others were Banchory in Aberdeenshire, Borders town Jedburgh, Plockton in the Highlands, and Portree, on Skye, which was given a special mention for its starry skies.
The newspaper’s Best Places to Live guide will be published on Sunday.
Places were ranked using data and statistics including crime rates, house prices and school performance, combined with local knowledge and expertise.
They were selected based on desirable features such as positive community spirit, good shops and services and attractive outdoor spaces.
The paper’s home editor, Helen Davies, said: “Britain is home to some of the most idyllic and wild countryside, and this supplement is dedicated to celebrating the very best of rural life.”
