The couple accused of murdering two-year-old Liam Johnson have returned to Scotland after being hounded from their home in Tyne and Wear.
Mother Rachel Fee, 31, and her civil partner Nyomi Fee, 28, were moved from their house in Chopwell, near Gateshead, by police escort.
They are now living in temporary council accommodation in Edinburgh.
It is understood they had recently moved to the village when scores of residents discovered who they were and gathered outside demanding their removal.
Police were dispatched to the scene, where eggs were thrown, and a local councillor was called in to try to calm people down.
Liam, also known as Liam Fee, died at the family’s former flat in Thornton, Fife, in March last year.
The two women are accused of murdering him and trying to falsely incriminate a child by making false statements to ambulance personnel, police, family and friends.
They are also accused of a catalogue of abuse against him and two other children who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Both deny the charges and are due to stand trial at the High Court in Livingston in April.
A Northumbria Police officer said around 70 gathered outside the property in Chopwell.
