Police officers in Fife have now traced a 53-year-old man in the Leven area following an appeal for witnesses to an attempted theft of a live 11,000 volt electrical cable.
The Courier told on Tuesday that police in Fife are very concerned for the safety of someone who may be burned or suffering serious internal injuries, following an explosion in an electricity sub-station in Methil early on Monday morning.
They believe the person could be seriously injured after trying to steal electrical cable by cutting into a main power cable that crosses a bridge over the River Leven.
The power supply was cut and a number of houses and businesses lost supply.
Inspector Donald Jenks, who led the investigation, said on Friday: “We received information from a member of the public this afternoon and have now traced a man, who is suffering from a number of burns-related injuries.
“He is currently being taken to hospital and we will be interviewing him in connection with the incident when medical staff advise he is well enough to speak to us.
“I would like to thank the public for their co-operation and the information we were given.”
