There’s no poo pooing this mother’s business venture.
Mum-of-two Jennifer Combes uses recycled paper made of elephant and rhino dung to produce party invitations and greetings cards.
Fed up of the waste involved with party paraphernalia, Jennifer, 30, of Kinghorn, decided to make her own range of eco-friendly stationery with an educational slant.
And her animal print Talk of the Town party products, made using a process which renders them clean, have the jungle drums beating.
Qualified teacher Jennifer worked as an educator at Edinburgh Zoo and said: “I know from working at the zoo that anything that mentions poo, kids just love and remember.
“The subtle educational undertones keep the parents happy and eco-friendly products keep the world we live in healthy.”
Environmentally-conscious Jennifer came up with the idea when planning a second birthday party for her eldest son Ethan, four.
She said: “I was doing a theme and buying from shops and online and there was so much plastic and packaging. There was also a lot for young children but not so much for older children.”
She gave up her job after having second son Joel, and as he got older finally had the time to make her vision a reality.
She said: “There are a lot of elephant poo paper suppliers in America and I found a company in the UK.
“The elephant poo comes from rescued and retired working elephants at a reserve in Sri Lanka and the rhino poo comes from black rhinos in Paignton Zoo.”
Jennifer also plans to use reindeer droppings for a range of Christmas cards which will contain a Christmas tree seed to plant for the next festive season.
She said the textured paper is luxury quality and added: “It is just as usable as ordinary paper but you don’t have to cut down trees to get it.”
Her business launched only a fortnight ago but Jennifer said she had already had a fantastic response.
She said: “Because it’s poo and animal prints, people just seem to like it.”
