Motorists urged to take extra care following Fife snowfall
ByCraig Smith
Drivers have been warned to take extra care as snow falls have led to hazardous conditions on many routes.
Several shunts and bumps have taken place across Fife following overnight snowfall and a number of events have had to be cancelled due to the poor weather.
Police Scotland confirmed there were no serious accidents to report, although the entrance to the Halbeath Retail Park in Dunfermline was closed for a short time on Saturday morning after a vehicle struck a bollard.
Officers arrived shortly before 9am and gritters were called to treat the road outside the Harvester restaurant before it was reopened.
In north east Fife, local officers also took to social media to warn drivers to be wary following heavy snowfall in the Howe of Fife and Tay coast areas.
Sporting events also fell foul of the poor conditions, with Raith Rovers’ Championship game against Queen of the South and Cowdenbeath’s League One match with Forfar called off following pitch inspections.
East Fife’s League Two game against Clyde passed an earlier pitch inspection.
