Missing Mikaeel: Body removed from woods in Kirkcaldy

A body has been removed from woods in Kirkcaldy and taken for a post mortem examination in Edinburgh.

Police investigating the disappearance Mikaeel Kular, 3, discovered the body near his former family home in Dunvegan Avenue shortly before midnight on Friday.

A forensic team arrived at the scene on Saturday morning and could be seen examining woodland to the rear of the bungalow.

The house at number 32 and a large area of woodland was cordoned off.

The body was transported from the scene by private ambulance at around 4pm.

Police Scotland are expected to release a statement later tonight.

Officers have detained Mikaeel’s mother Rosdeep, 33, in relation to the incident.
