Concerns lead to call for speed limit cut in Leslie

Councillors are to put the brakes on drivers who continue to speed through a Fife village.
A 30mph speed limit is likely to be imposed on the A911 through Leslie when councillors meet to discuss the matter on Wednesday.
The stretch, at the west end of the village, has prompted concern for some time, with many drivers already flouting the 40mph limit, which runs alongside a residential area and a cemetery.
A report prepared for councillors by Ian Smith, from Fife Council’s transportation department, advises councillors to approve the extension of the 30mph zone.
“There have been concerns over inappropriate speeds at this location for some time,” he said.
“Police enforcement activity and additional signing have had some impact but it is now appropriate to extend the 30mph speed limit with the aim of improving safety for all road users.
“It is considered, in the interests of road safety, that the proposed extension of the 30mph speed limit on A911, Leslie should be promoted.”
