The father of a missing Glenrothes man has thanked the public for their continued support, 600 days after his son went missing.
Allan Bryant Sr told The Courier that his family remain distraught as they continue the hunt for answers following the disappearance of Allan Jr in November 2013.
He had been on a night out with friends in the town but has never returned home, despite high-profile appeals by his family and the police.
Spearheading the search is Allan Sr, who has used Facebook to gather the support of almost 25,000 people, ensuring that the quest for answers continues.
He told The Courier: “It’s the support that keeps us going.
“People are all on the page for different reasons but it’s great to have so many keeping Allan in the public eye and supporting the campaign.
“I’ve been told that if it were any other missing person then things might have been very different, but this is now a massive missing person investigation.”
Allan Jr was last seen leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes in the early hours of Sunday November 3 2013.
However, there are no clues as to Allan’s whereabouts and few leads as to what may have happened.
The long months have been a living nightmare for Allan’s loving family who have been searching tirelessly for him.
Although acknowledging that at times the tone of the Facebook page is “not healthy”, Allan Sr says that it has played a crucial role in keeping the search for his son alive.
With donations he has also purchased a van covered with images of Allan, while posters appealing for information can be found throughout Fife.
Despite support from around the world, however, Mr Bryant admits that nothing can replace the love of his missing boy.
“We’re all trying to remain positive but it is difficult,” he added.
Police Scotland has always maintained that there has never been any evidence of criminality linked to Allan’s disappearance.
Chief Inspector Nicola Shepherd has told The Courier that they remain committed to finding the 25-year-old.
She said: “Allan’s disappearance has struck a chord with people across Scotland.
“The community spirit and support that exists for Allan’s family has been unprecedented, as has the desire to gather as much information as possible about his movements and whereabouts.
“The 600-day anniversary of Allan’s disappearance is another milestone and a hugely important one for everyone connected to Allan.
“Our inquiries continue and whenever we receive new information in relation to this case we will respond accordingly.
“We are in regular contact with Allan’s family to keep them fully updated as to the progress of our investigation.
“Anyone who believes they can assist officers with their inquiries, but who has not yet come forward to police is asked to do so immediately.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
