An elderly Kelty man was attacked in a terrifying early-hours robbery in his home this morning.
The theft took place around 2.45am after the 68-year-old householder was confronted by an intruder who demanded money from him. The man was hit on the head by the thief, who escaped with a small amount of cash.
Police have launched a manhunt.
Detective Inspector David Russell said: “This was a despicable theft on a man in his own home at North Drum Street, Kelty, and which has left him extremely distressed. Although not seriously injured, the man received injuries to his face during the assault.
“It is essential we bring to justice those responsible, and I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of North Drum Street or the surrounding area during the early hours of Monday morning, and may have seen someone acting suspiciously, to contact us as soon as possible.
“The man who is believed to be responsible is in his mid to late 20s or early 30s and was wearing a striped top and dark coloured woollen hat.
“I would appeal to anyone who knows the identity of the thief to contact police in the strictest confidence.”
