The trial of a police officer injured in the incident that led to the death of Kirkcaldy man Sheku Bayoh has been postponed for the second time.
A lawyer for Nicole Short, 30, said she was being assessed by medics to determine if she will be able to stand trial on charges of illegally accessing information on the police computer system.
The PC had been scheduled to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in August last year but she was said to be too unwell.
Short, who was excused from attending today’s hearing, is accused of illegally accessing information in October 2012.
She was involved in the struggle that led to the death in custody of father-of-two Sheku in Kirkcaldy’s Hayfield Road on May 3 2015.
Police Federation bosses say she suffered “significant” injuries during the incident that led to the 31-year-old’s death.
