Public thanked after relatively quiet weekend for Fife firefighters
ByThe Courier Reporter
Firefighters in Fife have thanked members of the public for heeding safety messages after a fairly quiet weekend following Bonfire Night.
There had been fears there could be an increase in unofficial bonfires on Friday and Saturday, given that Guy Fawkes Night fell on a Thursday this year, but Fife area station manager Steven Michie was delighted those concerns did not come to pass.
“Bonfire night itself was quiet in Fife with crews responding to nine bonfires,” he said.
“We would like to thank the public who attended official events and refrained from holding their own bonfires.
“It had a positive effect and ensured communities had an enjoyable and safe evening.”
