Musicians from across Scotland will perform in the biggest ever celebration of Scotland’s patron saint in the town he gave his name to.
Mercury Award-nominated King Creosote will headline a street party in St Andrews.
The Fife singer-songwriter, currently attracting critical acclaim for his From Scotland With Love film soundtrack, shares the bill with Glasgwegian band Ashton Lane.
Also performing on Saturday November 28 will be Bella and the Bear, Kirsten Adamson, daughter of the late Stuart Adamson of Big Country, and Fife’s own Coaltown Daisies.
The party will be the centrepiece of the four-day St Andrew’s Day Celebration.
Two stages will be set up on Market Street for five hours of entertainment.
The day will also see the switch-on of the town’s festive lights and a pipe band procession to Scotland’s largest open-air ceilidh, which is expected to attract up to 1,500 dancers.
Patrick Laughlin, manager of St Andrews Partnership, which is co-ordinating the event, said: “This year’s line-up is bigger and better than ever, and we are thrilled to be staging an all-Scottish programme of such high quality.
“Our St Andrew’s Day Celebration will be an opportunity to embrace and enjoy the very best of Scottish music here in the town named after our patron saint.”
The programme forms part of the Scottish Government’s Scotland’s Winter Festivals.
From November 27 to November 30 there will also be a St Andrews versus the rest of the world golf match and a harvest feast.
Tickets are not required for the free street party.
