Heavy police presence as emergency services assist “vulnerable” individual at St Andrews Harbour

Emergency services were out in force on Sunday afternoon following reports of an incident at St Andrews Harbour.
It is understood crews were helping a “vulnerable” individual who was on the pier.
Police summoned the help of coastguard teams at around noon.
The Broughty Ferry RNLI lifeboat and local crews attended at the scene.
A Police spokeswoman said: “Police in St Andrews were in attendance at the harbour wall earlier today after concern was raised for a man who threatened to jump into the sea.
“The Scottish Ambulance Service and Coastguard were also in attendance as a precaution.
“Trained negotiators were successful in persuading the man to move back from the edge of the harbour wall.
“Officers escorted him to safety around 2.40pm.”
