Former station personnel upset at being left out of RAF Leuchars farewell parade

Military top brass have come under fire from furious former RAF Leuchars personnel amid claims they “back pedalled” on allowing them to take part in a farewell parade.
Ninety-five years of RAF history will come to an end at Leuchars on Tuesday when the Fife base is officially handed over to the army.
Forty-four former RAF Leuchars personnel say they had an “informal verbal agreement” with the base to form up behind the official handover parade and pay their last respects to the RAF station.
But now the former servicemen have been left “shocked and angry” after being told that while they could attend the ceremony in a holding area, they would not be allowed to take part.
RAF Leuchars said there had never been an arrangement, formal or otherwise, and that participation would be “unworkable”.
But the Farewell to RAF Leuchars group said: “We feel the rug has been well and truly pulled from under us. We feel they are now back pedalling.”
