A body has been recovered from the Forth which may be that of missing man Dean Wood.
The 21-year-old fell into the river from the Clackmannanshire Bridge after police officers tried to stop his van four weeks ago.
His relatives were informed of the grim discovery on Friday of a man’s body on the riverbank upstream of the bridge.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Forth Valley attended the River Forth following a report of a male’s body found on the riverbank near to Inch of Ferryton Farm.
“A member of the public raised the alarm shortly after 12pm on Friday.
“Enquiries are on-going to ascertain the identity of the deceased, however police liaison officers have been in contact with the family of missing man Dean Wood as part of that on-going investigation.”
Mr Wood, of Sauchie, has been missing since the incident in the early hours of Friday, November 13.
Police in an armed response vehicle had spotted a blue Transit van being driven with three wheels on the Clackmannanshire Bridge.
When they signalled to the driver to stop, the van crashed into a bridge barrier.
Mr Wood got out and climbed over the bridge’s safety railings before entering the water.
At the time, his devastated family said they and friends were praying for news of the “likeable, good-natured” young man who they said had a zest for life and good sense of humour.
