Residents alarmed as helicopters circle Dundee and Angus

One of the several helicopters diverted to Dundee Airport as a result of fog at Aberdeen Airport.
Heavy fog caused helicopters to be diverted from Aberdeen to Dundee Airport on Wednesday night.
Numerous helicopters were seen circling Dundee and Angus from around 7.30pm, with many people taking to social media to speculate the reason for the increased air activity.
However, it emerged that heavy fog at Aberdeen Airport was preventing aircraft from landing, with diversions set up to other airports including Dundee, Edinburgh and Inverness.
A spokeswoman for Dundee Airport confirmed helicopters had been diverted there due to the weather conditions in Aberdeen.
