A Fife man lashed out at ambulance workers and police officers who were trying to save his life.
Emergency services were called to David Webster’s home after he sent a text message to a friend, but when they arrived and roused Webster he lashed out and lunged at the officers.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, David Webster, 31, of Humbie Terrace, Aberdour, admitted offences that took place on March 21 at his home and en route to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital.
He assaulted, obstructed or hindered ambulance technicians Christopher Davies and Thomas McArthur and police constables Stephen Piercy and Elaine Duncan, repeatedly shouted and swore and lunged at them.
Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said police had been called because of concerns over his client’s welfare.
“When he is wakened he lashes out at police and ambulance staff who are trying to help him,” he said. “He realises this is far from acceptable.”
“He’s embarrassed about being in court and accepts police and ambulance staff shouldn’t have to put up with this behaviour.”
He said his client had now found work on Arran and lives there.
