Network Rail has branded a daredevil Forth Bridge climber’s stunt as stupid and dangerous.
Hartlepool adventurephotographer Lucinda Grange travels the world scaling some of its tallest buildings. So far she’s been photographed in a ballgown on top of the Chrysler Building in New York and the Great Pyramid of Giza.
She has also been up close and person with Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Angel of the North. The latest stunt from the Cleveland College of Art and Design graduate has, however, provoked outrage.
Network Rail said it was very much a working structure, which is in use 24 hours a day.
“Attempting to climb it illegally is both stupid and dangerous and we will always seek to prosecute anyone caught trespassing,” said a spokesman.
If she had patience, Ms Grange could have saved herself a steep climb and a lot of hassle as Network Rail recently unveiled plans to open the bridge to visitors and take them to the top of the 360ft towers.
The £15 million Forth Bridge Experience, put forward for Unesco World Heritage Site status, would have a north shore visitor centre and two lifts whisking visitors to the top of the cantilever tower.
On the south side, there would be guided walks along the south approach viaduct following by a climb to the top.
