Man arrested in connection with Fife sex attack appears in court

A man charged in connection with the abduction and rape of a woman in Fife has appeared in court.

Mark Patrick Armstrong was arrested over the weekend following a police appeal over an attack on a woman in the Halbeath area of Dunfermline on Thursday.

The 26-year-old is also facing charges in connection with a series of violent robberies and possession of drugs.

He made no plea or declaration during a brief hearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear again next week.
