A man is to stand trial accused of sending a “menacing” Facebook message to the wife of East Fife FC’s former director of football over allegations he was “screwed out of £30,000”.
Ty Brown is alleged to have sent the message to Lesley McNeil, wife of Brian McNeil, who stepped down as the League One side’s director of football in April 2014.
The message allegedly stated: “Got screwed out of 30,000 pounds by Brian McNeil for shares of East Fife Football Club and by coincidence the money went missing in Brian’s care which has taken over a year for Brian to go to court and Brian is seemingly still trying to get it there.
“Excuses after excuses oh plus it takes 2 and 3 weeks to get confirmation if you can get a loan from the bank according to Brian.
“But also he is always too busy to explain where the money is or how he will return it.
“And loves getting his wife Leslie to fight his battles for the money he stole.
“So be very careful also coz the best is yet to come.”
Brown is further alleged to have flouted a bail order imposed in October last year banning him from contacting either Mr or Mrs McNeil, by sending a text to Mr McNeil on November 12.
Brown, 30, of Clermiston Grove, Edinburgh, denies one charge under the Communication Act and one of breaching bail on summary complaint at Dundee Sheriff Court.
A trial date was set in June and Brown was ordered to attend a pre-trial hearing in April.
