Motor Neurone Disease campaigner Gordon Aikman will outline a plan to find a cure for the disease that is killing him.
The Fifer is to make an impassioned plea to the political leaders in the General Election campaign to double research funding.
Gordon will launch his plan, which he hopes will ensure a cure for MND is found here in Scotland, at the Edinburgh International Science Festival.
Gordon, who has already raised more than £250,000 for research, will tell the leaders: “This is likely to be the last General Election I will see. So with just weeks until we go to the polls I am making a direct and personal plea to all the party leaders.
“My plea is simple and is this: double MND research funding.
“David, Ed, Nick and Nicola the ball is in your court. This is our chance.
“I won’t be here next time round.”
