A cottage lived in by the late folk singer Jean Redpath sold for £726,000.
Traditional Scottish singer Redpath was regarded as one of the finest singers of the early British folk revival and made more than 50 records.
The Elie house where she lived was on sale for offers over £650,000 and exceeded its asking price after going to a closing date.
Harry Maitland, of estate agency Savills, said there was tremendous interest in the house.
Burnside, on The Toft, overlooks the Firth of Forth and is thought to date from the 18th Century.
The four-bedroom stone-built terrace is just along the coast from where Redpath was brought up in Leven.
Born into a musical family, the former Buckhaven High School pupil was the daughter of a driving instructor and her family lived in Mitchell Street then School Street.
Her mother latterly lived in Elie and Redpath regularly returned there to her beloved home on The Toft.
She was well-kent face and popular member of the East Neuk community and last visited just a few weeks before her death from cancer in Arizona in August last year at the age of 77.
Regarded as a cultural ambassador for Scotland, Redpath’s early career took her across the Atlantic.
When she moved to New York she shared a flat in Greenwich Village with Bob Dylan and became a central figure in the 1960s American folk music revival.
Redpath, awarded the MBE in 1987, returned to Scotland in 1979 and lectured at Stirling University but continued to record and perform around the world.
