A car fire caused traffic chaos for motorists heading north through Fife.
Firefighters were called to the M90 around a mile north of Halbeath, Dunfermline, shortly before 3pm to find a red Citreon Xsara Picasso well ablaze.
The driver managed to escape unharmed, but smoke could be seen for miles around before the fire was quickly extinguished.
However, the road had to be closed between junction three and four, meaning traffic heading north from the Forth Road Bridge was affected.
The road reopened around half an hour after the initial call, although it was still restricted to one lane prompting huge tailbacks in and around the area.
