Relatives of Oakley man Dean Gray, 45, believe he died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the attack in Kelty. Dean, who passed away in Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital on Friday, was attacked in 2010 while he was dropping off a fare. He later described how he was left “covered head to toe in blood” after the incident. His father Don, 65, said: “His problems stemmed from then. He had headaches from that point and they got worse. “He had brain haemorrhages and two operations.” He said his son developed inflammation of the blood vessels. “It attacked his kidneys and his major organs were deteriorating.” Dean had gone to the hospital on Friday for dialysis but suffered a heart attack and renal failure. “The staff in ward 22 in the Victoria were brilliant to Dean,” said Don. His wife Denise said: “He was one of life’s victims and was in and out of hospital all the time. It became too much. “Three weeks ago he said, ‘I’m just done. I can’t take it any more’.”
