The Duke of Edinburgh visited Leuchars today to meet the army battalion which has moved to the former RAF base.
Philip is Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and was at the base to visit the 2 Close Support Battalion.
It moved to Leuchars this year after being based in Fallingbostel, Germany, since 1977.
Lieutenant Colonel Chris King said: “It was an honour to be visited by our Colonel-in-Chief in our new home, Leuchars station.
“HRH took great interest in the work the battalion is doing both here in the UK and overseas.
“It is a privilege to command this battalion. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to lead such a professional group of soldiers as we establish ourselves here in Scotland and prepare to build on our proud history.
“We are deeply grateful for the warm reception we have received from the local community since our arrival.”
