The death of an 82-year-old woman in Leven is being treated as unexplained, say police.
Officers were called to a property in Green Gates, in the Broom area of the town, at around 8.30pm on Tuesday after neighbours were said to be concerned about the occupant.
Crews from the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to assist but an elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police were called to an address on Green Gates, Leven, at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, January 5 following a report of concern for a person.
“The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended, and an 82-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending the results of a post-mortem examination.”
It is not yet known how long the woman had lain within the property for.
