The owner of Fife Animal Park has accused Scotland’s charity regulator of causing death and suffering to the attraction’s animals.
Peter Lockhart, the manager of Fife Animal Trust, claimed park staff were forced to keep livestock in “horrendous” conditions because Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) prevented the 10-acre site from being sold.
He has even blamed OSCR for the death of a lemur.
OSCR has strongly rejected the claims.
Mr Lockhart, 50, said a buyer was prepared to pay £500,000 to take over the park last October but was scared off after OSCR started an investigation into claims charitable assets were included in the sale.
