SNP’s Cowdenbeath candidate criticised for ‘moaning’ teachers tweets
ByKieran Andrews
The SNP candidate in the Cowdenbeath by-election has been slammed for accusing teachers of constantly “moaning”.
Natalie McGarry posted a series of tweets in September 2012 claiming those in charge of classrooms felt they had special privileges.
One said: “Are teachers, or their unions, never done moaning? I am sure they do a good job, but nicely remunerated with holidays etc.”
Labour candidate Alex Rowley said: “With these remarks, Natalie McGarry has reinforced her, and Fife SNP’s, contempt for our teachers.”
Ms McGarry said: “This is desperate stuff from Labour who are clearly trying to whip up a smokescreen around the fact that Alex Rowley’s Labour administration published cuts proposals that could see 300 teachers in Fife lose their job.”
