Contractors were forced to shut down the Falkland school’s power system to carry out routine maintenance. It meant pupils were sent home for the morning, which allowed engineers to carry on with their work. The school reopened yesterday afternoon and will be fully open for pupils today. It is the first school closure in Fife this winter, coinciding with the region’s first snowfall. Meanwhile, Pitteuchar library in Glenrothes also closed yesterday due to staff illness.
