An Anstruther man was fined £650 at Cupar Sheriff Court for a breach of the peace offence.
Ronald Graham (53), of High Street, Anstruther, admitted committing a breach of the peace by behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing and making threats of violence at Rodger Street in Anstruther.
Graham’s defence agent said he was “extremely embarrassed” about the incident, which had come about as a result of derogatory comments and messages being posted on Facebook by the complainer and his partner.
Sheriff Macnair said: “When an incident of this sort takes place in a public place, it is not just the complainer who is affected. However, I am just prepared to deal with the matter by way of a fine.”
