Thieves stole cash from a petrol station in Fife near the Tay Road Bridge in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police revealed that that the Abercraig Shell garage near to the Forgan roundabout was targeted shortly before 3am and those responsible took a three-figure sum of money during the break-in.
The petrol station was closed when the incident happened, but police are appealing for witnesses as the A92 and surrounding roads would have been quiet at the time.
Detective Inspector John Anderson, who is based in Levenmouth, is asking anyone who saw unusual activity at the petrol station to come forward.
“We believe the break-in was committed shortly before 3am this morning when the petrol station was closed and the persons responsible have remained in the area for a considerable period of time,” he said.
“The area and roads would have been quiet at that time of night and it is possible that members of the public may have noticed persons or a vehicle parked nearby.
“Whilst it may not have seemed suspicious at the time, this may now be important to our investigation.”
