If there’s something strange in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call?
For Lyndie Johnston and her business partners Paul Arthur, Mick De Rosa and Julie De Rosa, the answer to that question is The Courier.
For while they think their fish shop premises might be spooked by a spectre, they are now hoping Courier readers can help them find out more about the history of the building.
Lyndie explained that ever since they opened their A2B Aquatics business at 22 Main Street, Kinglassie, in March, they have been plagued by strange events that Lyndie puts down to a potential ghost.
She said: “We know the building was built in 1905. It’s been a Co-op, a furniture shop and was a mosque before we took it over. This is going to sound crazy, but we think there’s a spirit in there.”
She added: “We’ve heard banging footsteps in the shop when it’s closed. There have been things getting moved.
“The alarm also keeps tripping and we are not sure why. Sometimes you are in here and it’s as if there’s someone standing behind you. It’s so hard to describe. “
Lyndie said she had never mentioned it to the customers but then one customer said they too had seen something. Lyndie added that she did believe in ghosts as she had had an experience in the United States.
She added: “I used to live in a house in the USA where people used to see the ghost of a little boy sitting on the stairs. It turns out the house had been the scene of a family murder in the early 1900s and the father had hanged himself.”
