Police suspect Cowdenbeath house fire was started deliberately

Police in Fife have appealed for the public’s assistance following a suspicious fire in Cowdenbeath.
A home in Sinclair Drive is suspected of having been targeted by fire raisers in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
The occupants of the home managed to escape without injury, but police are keen to trace those responsible for the blaze and have launched an urgent investigation.
Detective Sergeant Graham Watson said that finding the culprits was a matter of priority for local officers.
“Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of this reckless act,” he said.
“Nevertheless, the consequences could have been far worse and we are treating this matter very seriously.
“Anyone who was in the Sinclair Drive area at the time of the fire is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with any further information that can assist with our inquiries is also asked to come forward.”
