Guinea pigs found in Kirkcaldy were ‘thrown away like rubbish’

Two guinea pigs have been found “thrown away like rubbish” in Kirkcaldy.
Now in the care of the Scottish SPCA, both are poorly and it is not known if one will survive.
A member of the public found the duo now named Bill and Ben dumped inside a flower pot under a rail bridge in Factory Road last Tuesday evening.
Animal rescue officer Robert Ward said it was unclear how long they had been there, but both were very cold and had no access to food, water or shelter.
Both were suffering from urine scalds so it seems they may have been living in poor conditions before being abandoned.
“Both the guinea pigs are underweight but one is much worse than the other and he’s also showing several signs of ill health,” Mr Ward said.
“We don’t know if he’ll pull through but he’s receiving veterinary attention and we’re keeping a close eye on him at the moment.
“It’s heartbreaking to think that Bill and Ben have been thrown away like rubbish and we hope they will both recover from this terrible ordeal.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Scottish SPCA helpline on 03000 999999.
