Police on hunt for thief who stole and crashed tractor in Methil
ByClaire Warrender
A clueless thief crashed a stolen seven and a half tonne tractor unit into a bus shelter in Methil on Tuesday morning.
A parked car was also damaged before the driver made off.
Thankfully, no-one was injured but police are keen to trace the person responsible as quickly as possible amid fears someone could have been killed.
Community Sergeant Craig Fyall said: “It’s obvious that the person responsible never had a clue how to drive this vehicle and their reckless actions could have resulted in people being injured or even worse.
“As a result there has been damage to a vehicle and a bus shelter.
“If you know who is responsible then please contact us.”
The Volvo HGV tractor unit was stolen from Naylor Drainage on Cowley Street at around 7.15am.
A short time later it collided with a bus shelter and with a parked car on Methilhaven Road before being abandoned on Kirkland Walk.
Anyone with information which could help police is asked to contact them immediately on 101 or anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
